I find it amusing that, in a way, the news that the Pursuing Dinosaurs brings is, in a sense, a compelling reason to "commit mass suicide". Certainly, converting the worldship into a massive dataship increases both its fuel reserves and its perceived living space. And we still haven't learned Broken Wind's big secret that compelled her to force-upload the entire population of that massive habitat.

For all we know, the Worldship may already BE mostly mind-frame storage space. We might be looking at virtual-space when we see the inhabitants, not real-space. Or maybe they print their meatware versions on-demand, when they need help maintain the ship's infrastructure, and most of the inhabitants spend most of their time in virtual space.

Or maybe they print their meatware versions on-demand, when they need help maintain the ship's infrastructure, and most of the inhabitants spend most of their time in virtual space. Maybe, but if you were an amphibian analog, wouldn't you gravitate toward a "ship" with lots of ponds and streams over one of walls and corridors? The other virchspaces we've seen were optimized to their intended inhabitants. The Oafan have a large 3D open space. The guys who hid the last time crafted a world that resembled the afterlife of their most recent acquisitions for their acquisitions to reside in. Tagon++ and Crew are lying around in an idyllic grassland. Each of these virtual spaces could, and probably would, be described as "park-like" to their inhabitants.
That these frog people AREN'T sitting around in something that looks like it might have developed them suggests the walls are physical rather than digital. That they're discussing it in front of these walls, rather than along the banks of a river inclines me to believe those are their everyday bodies, and not ones they printed up to do some job.

One should not fear logic. If a choice is correct, it is better to know about it as soon as possible, no matter how distasteful it may seem. If committing mass suicide were the correct course of action as such a "truly compelling reason" would suggest, then they should do so, not hide from that reason and therefor do more harm by not following the correct course sooner.
