Lying to the Feds and perjury are still federal crimes bucky. But simultaneously not "Russian Collusion", which is the claim you're trying to prop up. And Max, they can definitely "claim victory" all they want. But just like the "Hilary is my President" shirts, reality won't agree with them. |

The convictions didn't have anything to do with Russian collusion, though. They were all for other things, the vast majority for lying to the FBI and perjury. Crimes that but for the investigation itself, never would have happened. You don't get to start an investigation, convict for crimes caused by that investigation, and then claim victory that the investigation found the crime it was looking for. So, the investigation didn't start with "collusion". It started with Russian interference in the election. It didn't become about the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians until later. There was also a lot of lying and lack of cooperation on the part of the President and his staff, making it impossible to actually investigate it. I wouldn't be surprised if, should Biden be President in January, the investigation weren't reopened and the documents that would prove the conspiracy were obtained, assuming they exist any longer. |

Republicans also can't claim exoneration, because they refused to even listen to evidence and witnesses when it went to the Senate.They also can't claim it didn't happen for the same reason. They never proved it either way.

Biden has more mental acuity than Trump at this point and he still hasn't been replaced yet. At least Biden doesn't boast about how he aced an incredibly hard cognitive test than no one else could pass. Nor does Biden support a cray-cray doctor that believes in alien DNA and demon dream sex.

It turned up plenty. The Senate wouldn't even listen to the evidence and witnesses. So don't even go there. With Barr in charge of the DOJ and the Senate in charge of the Republicans, there is no chance in hell that they'll bring up charges on Trump or his cronies. In fact, they're doing everything they can to drop whatever charges there on on them. The only reason why in the beginning any charges were brought was because Sessions recused himself.
So yeah. You're protests are a bit weak in light of that.

It turned up a lot of information on the Russian attack on our election. And charged more than people who lied. They charged several Russian companies. And dropped those charges because fighting them in court would have revealed information that we don't want them to have. I seriously doubt that without subpoenas that they weren't going to get they would have gotten any real information about the Trump campaign's interactions with Russia. Especially since those subpoenas would have had to be based on the testimony of people whose reliability was sketchy to say the least. However, when he's no longer President, it's possible that such a subpoena WILL go through. |

Especially when the President has to do legally iffy things, if not outright illegal ones, just to do his job. See Obama and his assassination of an American citizen without due process. Being a terrorist didn't remove his rights. |
