Nobody is going to after Trump when he's out of office. There will be people who will pursue Trump; however, it is likely there will not be enough of them with the clout required to make any real progress. Any real progress may be construed poorly among the general voting populace to the pursuers' detriment in future elections unless indisputable evidence is disclosed quickly. Should Trump be convicted at the federal level, a pardon issued by a Democratic president would likely cleave the Democratic Party. The best the nation can do after Trump is to stop and reverse the actions of his administration. Trump had partial success rolling back the work of the Obama administration. This requires strong majorities in both legislative houses. Personally, the nation needs to break the two-party system (face it, it is ruled by the Democratic and Republican parties). Ending the Electoral College and switching to a ranked voting system may be the only way to accomplish this. The 2020 election has given us a choice between an arguably petty and incompetent administration and an opponent whose only defining characteristic is that he is perceived as the most likely to beat Trump. These candidates will be 74 and 78 when sworn in on January 20, 2021. Reagan wasn't doing well by the end of his second term and I doubt these two will fair any better. Enough ranting (borderline threadcrapping, imo) on my part in this tread. Switching back to political [black] comedy.

Lol. That wasn't a threadcrap. You were positively civilized about it! You're probably right. It'll probably devolve into Benghazi like hearings and investigations, where they'll get the low hanging fruit so to speak. Even though I hope they'll go after Trump himself, it'll probably wind up as a glorified distraction, due to the fact that Congress is full of spineless, incompetent dick weasels.

And you keep believing that there are politicians out there that love the people enough to sacrifice their lives to have Trump arrested.

There will be a few that will put on the APPEARANCE of pursuing Trump(And one genuine idiot named AOC), because they know it's not possible to succeed, but that's it. I also don't think a pardon will cleave the Democratic party. We're talking about people who give Congress an abysmal job approval rating, but continue to re-elect them anyway. Fear of Republicans taking over and deporting their babies while forcing toxic sludge down their throats will keep them together.

In any case. shall we move to the next outrage? I'm bored talking about Trump. Let's swing to the democrats side this time:
How did this woman get into Biden's top picks? A scientologist Castro sympathizer?! I swear, if I was in his shoes, those two things alone would disqualify her.

That was a brilliant move on his part. A ton of Americans don't pay attention to the news, but will hear about this. That will boost his popularity. Then, the Democrats either have to suck up the abuse of power, or fight it in court and go on record as opposing the monetary relief to the poor and unemployed, which will hurt them.

Problem is, there's no money in most states to pay for this and it'll take months to set up, even if some states do have the money for it. So it's really empty political theater. Sadly, though, you are right. It will play with the people who don't read the fine print. Especially the part about the payroll taxes. They see 'taxes' and say ooo.. I don't have to pay! It's a deferral, you will have to pay eventually and if it's decided down the line that you don't, social security is fucked.
So it really doesn't help anyone, it just has the 'appearance' of helping, which is about all Trump is capable of.

The question is - will either work?
The Democrat bill is supposed to give people more than the Republican bill or Trump's decrets. So you might not need to read the fine print to realize that it's the Republicans that are blocking things because they don't want to help the people as much as the Democrats do. At best you think at least Trump is trying to do something, but the Democrats would achieve more.
The pay roll tax elimination thing sounds like something that seems to require more work to explain why it's bad or poorly thought out. In the leftist reddit bubble it seems the headline has quickly moved from "removing pay roll tax" to "removing social security".

The payroll tax funds social security. It's a sneaky way to get rid of it. So, they're not wrong, it's just not the entire truth. In any case, his 'decree' is a deferral. Which means, companies are eventually going to have to claw it back from their employees if they follow through with it. Which also means, probably, many won't bother to follow Trump's EO because of that. So it won't help people, but will make Trump look superficially good.
Basically, it's Trump putting a coin in a blind beggar's cup. The coin is attached to the string. He yanks the string and says 'Psyche'! Then he turns around and steals the cup.
