I'm pretty sure that Schlock, having his species originate as a nanotech data storage device that mutated, is technically an A.I. or enough of one that he can figure out how to interface with the ship's systems or, quite possibly, port his personality processes onto a brand-new Pa'nuri that looks and moves like the others but thinks like Schlock and has his motivations.
That would be different.

With time* he might be able to run one of their ships... but the non-baryonic lifeforms that are the Pa'anuri are, I think, beyond even his capacity to mimic (or eat).
* Granted, he's now spent several [TIME UNITS] learning to interface directly with and operate equipment of differing capacities, not all of which was custom built for him. Certainly the original original orange hamster ball of doom that Tailor made for him required learning how to reinterpret his normal interfaces protocols. It's unlikely the fragsuits were any better adapted to him, he's probably been getting very good at adapting his protocols on the fly...
It would be a shame for someone to each him how to code. Probably actually a war crime now that I really think about it.

I've been expecting Schlock'nuri for a while now - someone (maybe back at Nightstar?) said they expected Schlock's amorph interface (and possibly replication?) capabilities to be the key to victory, and then when we saw that the Pa'anuri warship pilots are brain-uploaded dronuri it clicked.

I think we will be seeing a Schlock'nuri very soon

I know I said I expected this to happen, but after those past few strips I did not expect this to happen.
Those poor, poor partial-former-Dronuri.

For a moment I though he wasn't going to pull it off, but he managed to recombulate himself so that's good

Now however I forsee the comic aiming for the diplomacy ending... Okay... well, that's growing unlikely. Though, he's only eating the bary-controlled DaMEs, so it's possible either the Pa'anuri will come to recognize the danger in having Barry DaMEs and discard that alliance turning the skinnies onto the Terran side thus reducing their numbers, or they'll reveal how fragile their numbers are (no natural procreation) and and a diplovore solution will present itself. What? Schlock is perfectly capable of being diplomatic when he's not in the room with any diplomats... PS: Now I'm kinda worried. Google spellchecker thinks diplovore is perfectly cromulent word...

I think the Pa'anuri had no concept of "predator" and this is going to frighten them. Is Shlock going to tour the galaxy and hunt them all? I don't know yet. But if Petey fabbed a system that he could port into enemy controlled area and generate a Shlocnuri the war would be over.

Anyone notice that they had time to design a banner and logo for their flagship?

Careful not to replace one problem with a new, bigger, hungrier problem That's exactly what I was thinking. On the other hand, the nature of Schlock's connection to his Pa'anuri incarnation plus the Pa'anauri origin story plus the way they are reincarnated by these world-ships makes me think Pa'anuri need a baryonic seed.

Bit off topic but the headline fits so i use this thread:
I was wondering if the ships name "Sergeant In Motion" is just a reference to certain Maxim or maybe also a reference to a certain song performed by a certain swedish band?
