I know I am late to the game as Gloomhaven (the original game) came out in 2017. It's been top game on Board Game Geek ever since.
Well, the original weighs 20 pounds and is infamous for being a huge bitch to set up, and complicated. And it's expensive, though people who like it say it's worth the cost.
Along comes Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. A smaller version of the game, with a much better introductory set of scenarios, and better organization in the box to help set up faster. Originally exclusive to Target for under $50, it's now available widely and can be found on Amazon for about $40.
So I bought it, and woah...this game is so awesome!
It's kinda D&D. And you can play it solo. I've been playing solo and I think it works great. I am having a good time with it. The intro scenarios gradually introduce new rules with each scenario untl you're playing the full game. You level your character, buy items between adventures, have a mini adventure in the city between adventures. There is a fluid magic system, cool abilities for the PCs, and character sheet you fill in as you go and improve with levels. It's a blast. I highly recommend it.
Anyone else playing any version of Gloomhaven? Anyone pre-buy the upcoming Frosthaven?

Anyone else playing any version of Gloomhaven? Not I, but at $40, that's not a bad intro price. A guy in my group raves about it occasionally, but with all the games that we already have, no one was particularly interested in investing into yet another deep pocket game...
