America's political system is so borked that even a competent, non-senile President with huge majorities in both houses would struggle to get anything done. What chance does Uncle Joe have, when he's already - neurologically, not politically - forgotten half of the promises he made?
We're all fucked. It's time to sell your soul to an evil corporate overlord and plead for their mercy. Anything would be better than the current stable of Washington bozos.
Bezos not bozos!

Here's your tin-foil hat dear. It's nice and shiny. Small correction though. Politicians work for themselves and their own greed. Whomever can pay them their price owns them.

Here's your tin-foil hat dear. It's nice and shiny. Uhuh. Do you say stupid things so we're think you're stupid or because you really, really are stupid. You do realize you just agreed that the politicians work for the billionaires because the billionaires can pay them the most. And who do you think that is? The poors? The middleclass? Not until we start voting their asses out on a regular basis they won't.

It happens on both sides of the lane dear. How do you think republicans get funded? Koch brothers and others are just as bad. You just singling out democrats is kinda naive at best.
The poors and middle class keep them in power with their votes. The rich funds their campaigns.

You just singling out democrats is kinda naive at best. When did Bloomberg become a Democrat?[1] (I would have also mentioned the Koch brothers, but I temporarily forgot their hilarious names.) Which I why I said "not until we vote them out". I know asking you to apply some thought to your posts is ablest, but really now. 1 - Ah, right he switched from Dem to Repub when he ran for mayor and was a Repub when he backed Bush and spoke at the RNC... then switched back when he ran against Trump. I keep only remembering him as an opportunist Conservative.

Someday y'all Lefties will come to realize I was right all through 2019†, y'all* should have abandoned the Dems and voted with your consciencfor third party (Righties needed to do this too). Who cares what a petulant teenager has to say? People need to stop listening to teens given a global/national stage by their handlers to promote their handler's agenda. † I told y'all Biden had a fifty year political career as a liar. But no, "He's changed" and "He isn't Trump", well hope y'all are happy with literally worse than Trump. * Not you Tardo, I know you don't live in the Greatest Country On The Earth and thus have no ability to control most of the globe via your votes (that will be ignored anyway as the US's elections are rigged ).

Millions of other petulant teens, who will comprise the majority of voters in 30-40 years, when you and I are drooling into our cornflakes or pushing up daisies. Correct. I am not Finnish.

Hopefully they'll have grown up and won't be petulant teens anymore. Ahahahahahahah... yeah, Finland is good, but it's not The GOAT. They have Freedom of Speech in their constitution and that elevates them above most other countries. And of course, when Putin starts eyeballin Finland as part of his great Russian expansion tour, at least Europe will make some actual noise about it.

"Freedom of speech" - a great repressor; part of the mythic machinery with which the establishment of the United States keeps its subjects in thrall. It is simply extraordinary to the other 95% of the human race - because, let's be honest, the modern USA is a very slender sliver of the human experience - that the rest of us can see the propaganda which "free speech" has become. Such an effective tool for keeping you blind to your own history; to the world beyond your own myopic borders. As we speak, books are being removed from libraries in Texas - because of the "danger" they represent to young minds. V for Vendetta, The Handmaid's Tale. What other criteria might you bring to bear, when judging "greatest?" Effective representation and solid democratic processes?
A political system free of corruption and undue influence? Access to free higher education? Access to healthcare? Access to free, effective legal counsel? An enlightened criminal justice system? Care of the elderly and vulnerable? Equality of opportunity, regardless of race or economic circumstances? A citizenry which does not feel the need to arm itself, sanctioned by your society's own retrograde laws? I think not. Sorry to break it to you kid, but America is a shithole country. The fact that you do not recognize that - or are unwilling to acknowledge it - does not make it any the less true.

"Freedom of speech" - a great repressor... The first step to removing one's freedoms is to not let them talk about what freedoms they have... All I have to do is look to hellish societies that Scotland, England, and Australia have become, once pretty decent countries that do not have Freedom Speech enshrined in law, to know not having it is a terrible idea. I mean when people can be jailed for making jokes, "misgendering", and other very mild "offenses", nope. You're fucking nuts if you want that. Is that why Finland, the country you consider the "greatest" has Freedom of Speech enshrined in it's laws as well? Sorry that it's inconvenient to you that your politic opponents are allowed to express themselves. And I disagree with that. But to be honest, that's not censorship on a federal level, and localities are allowed to be shit, that's one of the great freedoms of this country. We're allowed to disagree with each other and people are allowed to make those sorts of mistakes. Don't worry, the pendulum will swing back. What other criteria might you bring to bear, when judging "greatest?" We have all of this to varying degrees. Some less than I'd want. Some clearly far less than you demand. This exists. What we don't have (that no one has) is equal opportunity regardless of class. It's sad you've swallowed the lies that the elites have been peddling that you think the US is a racist hellhole, because it isn't. But the elites don't want the downtrodden minorities to realize it's not race, but class warfare that's being employed against them. Because poor whites outnumber them and make for a good opponent (keep all the poors down that way), but the downtrodden minorities outnumber the rich... to bad even rich minorities don't want the poors to figure that out. Oh, did you forget I'm actually a communist? Considering most Americans do not own firearms... try again pal. And I will not live anywhere that I could not be armed against the tyranny of the state if I so chose. That's a freedom I will fight as dearly for as the freedom of speech. Pretty sure I'm older than you are son. But yeah, it's nice to see someone outline all the ways they have no clue. The US has it's flaws, but I could not be paid enough to live anywhere else. Y'all just aren't free. (Except maybe the Nords, I'd have to look into how well they actually support Freedom of Speech and how much the EU has it's knee on their necks.)

You misunderstand. Finland's freedom of speech is why it surpasses other European countries, and it is why I cited it; but Finland does not use "Freedom of Speech" (note the use of inverted commas again) as a means by which to distract from equally pressing issues. It does not exalt "Freedom of Speech" as the summum bonum of all social and political obligations to the extent that it is a foil to deflect and abrogate. That is what I mean when it is part of the mythic machinery of the USA: that the notion of "Free Speech" - like "The Founders" and "The Second Amendment" is part of the machinery of control and abrogation. Again, inverted commas - these represent idealized, propagandized forms; their real substance is kind of irrelevant to my argument.
I don't believe the USA is a racist hellhole. I lived there for 20 years. Yes, it has its problems; its circumstances are also rather unique. And I agree that those with the money are the problem and they've been gleefully exploiting racial divisions for decades in order to keep poor people poor. No argument from me here.
Doesn't make it any less of a shithole though.
Many First World countries experience issues in some of these categories. None fail as spectacularly as the USA in all of them.
Right...a third of the population is not most. It's just about 32% too much.
Free to what? Die in poverty with huge medical bills, having worked your fingers to the bone until you're years past a reasonable age for retirement?
Why the hell do you think I left?
You should travel. It broadens the mind.
