Anyway, it's a bit late, I haven't been here in awhile. I have some good news. Finally. I'm loosing weight! Since April, I've lost 45 pounds, just by giving up soda, milk products (mainly switching to almond milk for my morning coffee creamer) and eating a bit more sensibly.

Congratulations kirinke! 45 pounds is an impressive amount of weight loss for 7-8 months (~6 pounds / month) from adjusting one's diet. I'm sure you feel encouraged by the progress you are making. Have you noticed an improvement in energy and mobility as well?
Forgive me for asking, did you have a weight loss goal during this time period? I am curious if you did, not necessarily what is was.
As for this forum, I would be surprised if it is still in use a year from now. Even the most active posters seem to have moved on.

I've lost 45 pounds, just by giving up soda, milk products (mainly switching to almond milk for my morning coffee creamer) and eating a bit more sensibly. Good job, While I've not been updating the "watching y weight" thread, I've just managed to not backslide and gain anything. Which considering the deterioration of my right knee is astounding (I'm walking even less now than I was two years ago right after it was damaged). As for this forum, I would be surprised if it is still in use a year from now. Even the most active posters seem to have moved on. Just not much reason to come in here. The only reason most of us seem to be in here was to fight about politics, and honestly I have more fun with that on Twitter and Facebook, where I care far less about the people I'm fighting with. There's no game, media, or any other talk in here, like I've said in other posts, the kids use facebook and other places for 'snippet' conversations, the long form is dead.

I kinda got bored with the political talk, it was mostly just round-robinying the same things over and over again. I really don't have much of a goal, as it's not a diet persae, because diets end (this won't) but more of a life-style change. The weight loss is a side effect of that. I found if you start obsessing over the weight-loss part, it won't happen. Or worse, you'll actually gain weight through worry and over-eating (or starving yourself) because of that. So I actually don't really worry about it, or even monitor it, except with the doctor's visits and their weight checks.
Since giving up soda and eating a touch more healthy; I've found that I'm over-all, less sweaty, less huffy and puffy & my back hurts less (fucking knees are another matter le sigh. Cold and wet weather can kiss my ass and fuck right off.). My kidney function has improved dramatically (my kidneys were the main impetuous to do this) to the point where they are functioning normally and my bloodwork has stabilized with medication helping (before, even with the meds, it was abnormal).
So yeah. My over-all trick or secret is refusing to call it a diet. Because diets end. This ain't. The second part is small, easily doable changes. The third part is not obsessing or worrying about losing weight. Because when you start eating and drinking less crap and eating more sensibly/making better food choices that'll happen naturally. If that makes sense? I'm not even really exercising any more than I normally do through daily activities. So this approach is really easy and sane as far as weight-loss/health improvements goes.
That and give up soda. Even the diet/zero sugar shit is poison. Once you're off it, you really won't miss it. At least I don't anyway and I was badly addicted to the shit.

Well, it's fucking cold out, so I made chicken veggie soup for supper today. I find if you bake the chicken first, the final texture of the chicken in the soup is sooo much better.

A while ago, my co-workers were talking about how many miles they had on their vehicles and were either lamenting or bragging about their average 50k miles. I call that rookie numbers man. I have 236k+ miles on my vehicle. The only thing wrong with it is the AC is dodgy and right now I have to take it into the mechanic to have the thermostat looked at (which is going to happen tomorrow). Other than that, it purrs like a kitten. I'm hoping to get it up to 250k miles before I trade it in for something. There has to be some value to it for the company that makes it. I mean, 250k miles for a 2008 Kia spectra is pretty damned good. Even 236K is damn good.
Well, I took it into the mechanic. It wasn't the thermostat, but the radiator had a hole in it from a pebble. I hate it when that happens.

I tempered eggs for the first time with lemon chicken soup. It turned out pretty well for a first time.

I came back from the doctor's office. I've lost a total of 50 lbs since I started changing my eating habits and giving up soda.
