This pretty much sums up the whole ridiculous woke shithole that ENW has become:
"Doug McRae said: Orcs aren't like black people. Orcs are like a racist's idea of black people."

Umbran is actively breaking board rules but then Morrus posts right behind him and does nothing. It's an approved topic.
The freedom some have to bash others, often because of jumped to conclusions, is depressing. Yet I still read that thread a few posts at a time.
Meanwhile, I'm having a good conversation over in General. I even goaded Max into getting moderated. It wasn't hard; I told him I was not obligated to respond to his imaginings about my opinions and he went full retard. Said he was glad that another poster got to see how dishonest I was that I wouldn't even defend my own words, words he made up. Shmuck.

Is that Doug's picture in his avatar?
And yeah its been obvious that the "no politics, be polite" rule has always been there for selective enforcement.
A lot of people like diverse thought as long as its within a narrow spectrum. And if you don't agree...you are a fucking Nazi!

I dunno. I'm starting to think woke corporate culture is bowing to the mob just like everyone else. All it takes is a few dozen people on twitter and corps will crawl for them and start washing feet. Until they lose revenue over it. See Star Wars and Disney's decision to "stop releasing movies for awhile". They took a pounding to the wallet from the actual franchise fans over their bending over to the Wokerati. The problem with Star Wars wasn't that it was woke, it was that it was shit. If they wanted to make a sequel trilogy with powerful female and/or homosexual or minotiry characters or whatever, they should have started by thinking of it as a trilogy, and not building some haphazard mess where major revelations happen during opening crawls or montages. The rest might not be trivially easy, but if your foundations is sand...

The problem with Star Wars wasn't that it was woke... This is true. The problem is that it was both woke and shit. And, sorry, but "woke" tends to be shit. Woke isn't putting a good character into a movie, it's wrapping the movie around that character's (or characters') identity(ies), be it racial, sexual, etc. It hyper-focuses on that aspect of their minority status to the detriment of the movie. Competent "strong" female lead? That's isn't woke, that's old school. They've been doing that in movies since the fucking 40's. Competent "strong" gay or minority lead? Also 40's. Being "woke" isn't about properly representing some 'underrepresented' facet of society in media, it's about trumpeting it from the rafters and wrapping the media's identity in that representation, usually because the producers know the movie needs the extra attention the drama storm will bring.

Well, I was pretty much spot-on as to the level of asshattery. They're over 60 pages on the thread and its an argument over whether or not WotC should change the words used for the descriptions of orcs and elves being racist. I didn't realize that words to describe something that isn't real was so important to race relations in the 21st century...
And now there are at least two other similar threads.
The usual suspects keep proving what tools they are: Elfcrusher, Morrus, Umbran, Hussar, doctorbadwolf, AcererakTriple6

I really enjoy talking games with Elfcrusher, but, yeah, he's right up there on those threads willing to toss people to the mobs. The rest of that list are people who I don't like talking games with, and one of them is on my permanent ignore list. Well, Umbran would be, too, if I could. dbw and A666 are close to temporary visits.

Lem23, with his Chatulle, Xenonnonex and Panda-S1 should be on that list too.

Good thing we got em marked!!! Heh. Touche. I think that sound was my petard. I mostly don't care about politics, though, but I do notice people that make bad arguments. Most of the people I recognize in those threads I've long marked as not usually worth talking to, and not at all because of their politics.

There’s a reason you generally won’t see me in those kinds of threads. I tend to be pretty middle of the road, which usually means I become a target for everyone.
