A new Star Trek Picard trailer was revealed, and it (naturally) contains a few more details than the teaser.
Link for us non-US peasants:https://streamable.com/mdoxn
Looks interesting. It seems it might involve a conflict around liberated borg (e.g. Borg freed from the Collective) and we event get to see a few other faces from TNG and VOY!
There is also a trailer for the new Short Treks.

Looks promising. Much more so than Discovery. Honestly tired of Trek prequels.

Eh. I probably watch it, mostly because Trek hasn't pissed itself the way Star Wars has, but I have no nostalgia for any of the characters in that clip.
Okay, slight nostalgia for Data but only because of Brent Spiner.

A CBS official was sited, that the theme of the shows will run between a STNG and a Discovery feel *hybrid mix*, since most of the tapping was already done. However it comes out, and depends how folks react to it. Any changes will have to come the next season, *if it pass the first* From feedback....

Fuck it. ---As it stands now, there is a cost rumor of $400 million dollars for Season One. Second, in a recent interview with Lord Patrick Stewart, there is a hint of him wanting to do more with the character and the show *like take a more direct role in the show itself* He wants more challenges at age 79, I can see why. However this show turns out, depends on the reception it gets.

I liked the first episode of Picard quite a lot. I did as well. It was kinda what I hoped for or expected from the trailers and early talks so far. Eager to see more.

I liked the first episode of Picard quite a lot. I'm on episode two and man they really need to learn how not completely bungle a foreshadowing. I already know* what the big Romulan secret is. * Read as very strongly suspect.

I've seen a lot of 'I'm excited for this' turn into abject disappointment and abandoning the series before completion. Sounds like incompetent writing is the largest complaint?

It's as solidly written as any previous Star Trek has been... That's a low bar, and ignores that DS9 had a far better writing team than, say, Voyager, which was a dumpster fire. EDIT: and your, what's 3 eps in? Talk to me again when you realize they're still doing setup exposition in ep 4.

I thought I was being rather vicious considering how horrible some of the old TOS episodes were... I honestly, so far, put Picard at the "better DS9 and Enterprise episodes" worth of writing. It's easily on par with Discovery, which despite being a mess of a show is solidly written. Picard has some plot holes, but if you're willing to swallow "utopian post-scarcity economy that still finds worth for all people in society but also has scarcity when plot" then the plot holes are easy for you to hurdle. Yeah only three knuckles deep on the show, so I can still pull out and only need to wash my hands of it. But seriously, I figures the majority of season one would be show setup once I heard they are prepared to make major overhauls in season 2 and 3 based on fan feedback.

I got bored after 2 episodes, and even the Red Letter Media episodes making fun of it are boring.
