Yeah, this is a problem. We really need to figure out a way to make what we need without seriously damaging the environment in the process. Instead of taking time to figure out the best way to get what we need without doing too much damage, we rush in.

Don't you find it disturbing that so many people who are proponents of "clean" energy are ignorant (willfully or otherwise) of how polluting the manufacturing processes are, how cruel and inhumane the raw material collection processes are (conflict metals, slave labor), and how polluting the waste stream after the end of useful life of the finished product is? Not to mention the wealthy who declare an SUV to be just the worst - while they fly to some exotic locale each month on a private jet while leaving their 30,000 SQ ft home's thermostat set for 70 degrees in summer and 75 degrees in winter... These are the same people who, for example, consider peta to care about animal welfare rather than face the truth that they're only concerned about the grant money while they slaughter animals as enthusiastically as the Nazis gassed Jews. Either the left is so unaware as to be easily manipulated or they're evil.

Either the left is so unaware as to be easily manipulated or they're evil. You might be surprised by the number of people who are aware of these thing. I, for one, am well aware of the things you talk about here. Yes, these things need to be taken care of as well. Though if you can figure out how to get those places to use humane labor practices you're a better person than I am. We are working on less polluting manufacturing processes. And less polluting mining processes (something you DIDN'T mention). We're also working on less polluting flying processes. The best thing for that last one is making better batteries, ones that don't use the much less common rare earths. There's a potential solution there, though it needs to be explored further. An iron-air battery. Everyone I know thinks PETA are a bunch of fucking idiots. EDIT: Just wanted to add a couple of other places that need to be fixed. The cruise industry pollutes a fuckton, as does the shipping industry. Specifically the sea shipping industry.

And thanks to globalization that will never change. Or rather it will change slowly only when someone finally finds a better way to ship mass goods across the globe for cheap.

It's primarily because so many ships still use Bunker B and No 6 fuel oil since they're basically the bottom of the barrel from refining with only carbon black and asphalt being heavier. These fuels are literally sludge that has to be pre-heated before they can even pump it onboard or pump it into the engines. It isn't the newer ulcv and panamax type container ships or the newer bulk carrier ships that are an issue since they're usually burning DFM, it's the older ones and the smaller coastal freighters moving stuff around Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean that are burning the more polluting heavier fuels. The small freighters are also heavily used bouncing from port to port throughout the EU.

It would be great if those ships were able to use something cleaner than bunker fuel. Unlike airliners, though, you really can't make them electric powered even when you get really good batteries. They would take up too much cargo space. I really think that nuclear power might be the answer there.

So, less the "Left Failing Us", but it looks like the Dems are roundly vilifying* Milley, which is nice. Not as much as I'd prefer, or even the exact reasons I want him court-martialed, the treasonous bastard, but it's nice they're looking at getting him off the team before he can turn on their pres as well.
I mean again, turn on their pres again.
* Except for Biden that sack of shit. Still not the 'Left Failing Us' as Biden isn't on the Left anymore... but still, it's the Dems failing us so... this feels like the best thread for it.

They will protect Milley as long as he is a useful idiot and then he'll retire. The whole stinking lot of them - everyone in elected office from any political party, political appointees, career bureaucrats, members of the Federal Reserve, the 3-letter agencies, career military officers in the General/Flag ranks, judges, oligarchical businesses and their C-suites - they *all* need to go. They're all feeding at the same trough and they'll all amoral whores. Judges not recusing themselves in cases where they hold a financial stake in one of the parties. Facebook trying to figure out how to collect data on tweens, Fed officers making personal profits buying/selling the shit that they're propping up. Generals making room to evacuate their "museum piece" from Afghanistan by kicking evacuees off the plane. Intelligence people conspiring with military officers and career bureaucrats to hamstring a duly-elected president. Just a few of the headlines I saw just on a single day. And it isn't new - this shit has been going on for decades. Was JFK killed by Oswald acting by himself? Or was it organized by the same assholes who've engaged in regime change throughout the world since WW2? Based upon how openly corrupt they are now, I'd say it's even odds...

Suprise, suprise. I actually agree with 3cat. There needs to be term limits for any elected or appointed position. It'd end alot of the nonsense going on. I mean, if it's good enough for the president, it's good enough for everyone.
Hell has just frozen over.
