First episode I'd call 'weak' but it still wasn't terrible.

I disagree on the 'weak', it had a different pacing, Dave Filoni's hand was clearly evident here. But it was just as strong a showing.

The writing this episode was weak. I really hate obnoxious "puppy-kicking to prove we're the badguys" bs. But, admittedly, when you have less than 30 minutes to intro a bunch of new characters before sidelining them, I guess cardboard villainy is necessary so the mouthbreathing masses understand that suddenly non-cutthroat Mando is the Good Guy.
I blame Baby Yoda, clearly he's been Jedi mind tricking Mando into joining the Light Side.

Best episode yet. Season 2 can't come soon enough. Agreed. Didn't have the tightness of the first three episodes, but it was a great two parter. And I really appreciate that we have a competent main hero (with a couple of glaring flaws*). His set backs aren't as blatant as "idiot ball" setbacks, but he doesn't make life easier on himself. Also, the series is still carrying the casual racism/speciesism of Star Wars uncommented, and that has always been something that interests me. * Mostly in two specific areas. 1 - Not making sure his enemies are dead, 2 - Jumping to erroneous, but not unlikely, conclusions.

That was kinda funny. I haven't watched it yet, but it does have that sort of vibe to it.

I am looking forward to the second season, too. Maybe Disney has finally found some people that can make Star Wars that's enjoyable to me again. Too bad we still have those sequels.
