Sigh. 2019 has been an unpleasant year. My dishwasher caught fire. My A/C went out in June. Girl dropped and broke her tablet (it was a 1 foot fall, in a case, that hit perfectly to break the display but not the glass). My washing machine broke. Then my refrigerator broke. That's just the appliances. Today, we put down the cat. She wasn't doing well. Her brother died a year and 2 weeks ago, when he managed to slip out of the house in the wee hours of the morning and, the first time he ever encountered a road, got hit and killed. Today, we put the cat down because her quality of life had gone to shit in the last 48 hours. Cancer. If I ever meet the writers for 2019.... Sorry for all those troubles. Maybe next year will be much better in order to even things out. Let's hope. AD, your daughter is lovely. My year has been ok, so far. I'm looking forward to prepping for the CPA exam in the Fall. Boy, do I know how to have fun.

Oh, that sounds like a bad year indeed. Dishwasher caught fire sounds really scary and dangerous. We happened to be standing in the kitchen, so when it started billowing white smoke we caught it and turned it off immediately. It smoldered a few more seconds and stopped right as I was reaching for the fire extinguisher. When the repair guy came out, I told him it caught fire, he kinda scoffed, opened it up and asked me to turn on the breaker. When I did, I heard him hollar as the breaker tripped immediately, and came back into the kitchen to catch him getting up from where he had scrambled back and fell on his ass. I asked, innocently, how it looked and he said, "Your dishwasher needs to be put down."

Virtual hugs from this end. It's about the best I can do.

Absent an Aqueduct, is there a setting for how many quotes get nested when you quote a thread? It seems to be grabbing both the post I want to quote AND whoever they quoted when I hit the button. Can't find the setting (spent maybe a minute on this, though, so...).

Can't find the setting (spent maybe a minute on this, though, so...). Far as i can tell it is working as intended (to allow for nested quoting natively). The easiest way to deal is to go into the BBCode tab on your post and clear out the nested quote that way, rather than using the preview tab.

It's not common parlance in print, though. At all. I've rarely seen it used in print outside of D&D (Edit: by "D&D" I'm referring to all dungeon fantasy games). And I've owned/read *hundreds* of games. Using it at the game table and using it in print, especially when not genre appropriate, are two *entirely* different things.

It's never been an issue to me. I'd rather see it than some bullshit like "coven". Granted I mostly play 'dungeon fantasy', GURPS at that, and GURPS has used 'party' to refer to the group of PCs for most of their run. They use 'team' for Supers and modern thriller genres though, I think (just checked, and 'party' get's used in them, but 'team' is more prevalent in the Supers book, 50/50 in the Action line). So... what makes 'party' genre specific to you? Just because Gary prefer it over 'group'?

This is the Eternal August. Just embrace it. You can't even tell that is the July thread, so it'd be an eternal July, not August. I've done you the favor of moving your dumb to where it makes sense. Fucking calendar illiterates. No, no, this is still August from 2006.

... I work in telemarketting/customer service... Why is that people from Ohio cannot say the word 'retired' properly? You ask an oldster what their current employment status is and they say "retard". What is up with that?
