I think Biden would be best served by taking on Warren. She would bring with her a bunch of the sulking progressives who would be upset that Sanders didn't get the nomination. That should be enough to cement his victory.
For Sanders, he would probably also be best served with Warren. Both as a woman and another progressive, she won't be seen as diluting his standard.

If Biden choses Warren, he'll lose the Bernie supporters, not that he has them now, but he will absolutely be unable to pick up the Bernie Bros. His best best to win over the progressive side is to either really woo the shit out of Bernie, or try to get Gabbard or Yang. Neither are progressives, but both are young and vital, Tulsi brings the anti-war sane-progressives, while Andrew is a technologist and an awful lot of progressives think they are techies. As far as Bernie is concerned, I think getting Warren is his best shot, despite the fact that every Bernie Bor will be glaring daggers at her of the rest of the campaign. But also there's no way in hell anyone else would sign on with him (that wasn't from the screamingly far left socialist /communist side of the DNC). |

He'd probably be best by picking somebody that'd appeal to the independents. Somebody younger and more in tune with reality. The far left will probably grudgingly support him, if only because they hate Republicans more.
Warren has way to much baggage for him to win with her.
Let's face it, both Warren and Bernie would make the independents run like hell away from Biden.
That's how Romney lost the election when he ran. He picked a far right wing nutter (Palin) as his running mate. Sure it appealed to the wingnuts, but the moderates and the independents said Nope.

That was McCain, who already had the centrists, being, well, McCain. He needed the right wing of the party. Palin's also not that nuts. I mean, if you're firmly in the 'Bernie's an okay choice" camp, then, sure, she's raving right-wing nutballs. But, from the middle, she's not that bad. Palin's treatment during that campaign would be hard to do now in the Me, Too era -- they'd still do it, because correct thought only applies after political litmus tests, but it would be much more obvious what was going on. |
